Facing opposite problems, Wanda is desperately poor and pregnant with a fifth child, and Rachel, though wealthy, longs to be a mother. A classified ad brings the women and their husbands together to form an adoption agreement. The contrasting couples do their best to make the arrangement work, but class differences create unbearable tension.

The cast includes Kelly Uhlenhopp (Wanda), husband/wife team Robert Michael Sanders* (Al) and Megan Van de Hey* (Rachel) with Josh Levy (Richard) and Gracen Porreca (Ron).

Emmy Award-winner Jane Anderson wrote and directed several critically acclaimed television movies, notably Normal, starring Jessica Lange; The Baby Dance, starring Stockard Channing and Laura Dern; Egyptian Pyramids starring Holly Hunter, and If These Walls Could Talk 2 starring Vanessa Redgrave. She became a writer for the AMC television drama Mad Men and was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Dramatic Series at the February 2009 ceremony for her work on the second season. She won an Emmy Award for writing the screenplay for the miniseries Olive Kitteridge. In 2015, Anderson wrote the documentary Packed in a Trunk: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson about her great aunt, Edith Lake Wilkinson, a lesbian and painter who was institutionalized in the 1920s and spent the rest of her life in an asylum for the mentally ill.
