Candlelight Dinner Playhouse Holds BIG RIVER Auditions, 3/7

The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse will be holding auditions for BIG RIVER on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 12pm to 7pm at The Playhouse. Auditions are by appointment only and can be made by calling the Box Office at 970-744-3747 during box office hours beginning February 22, 2011. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2011 starting at 6pm. Experienced singers, dancers and actors are needed. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. All roles open. All roles non-equity. All roles paid.

Actors should bring a current headshot and resume and prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theater song appropriate to the show. You may be asked to sing more than one song. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. No a capella or recorded music is allowed. You may sing a song from the show. Rehearsals will begin approximately May 25, 2011. BIG RIVER will open June 18, 2011 and run through August 21, 2011. Performances are Thursday through Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees. Performances may be added on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is Colorado's newest and largest professional dinner theater. It is a multimillion dollar facility dedicated to using Colorado's finest talent.

BIG RIVER Based on Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn"
Mississippi in the mid 1800's. Hick attempts to help Jim the slave achieve freedom by escaping down the Big River.

ROLES (16-18 people)

HUCKLEBERRY FINN (18-25) A rough and tumble near orphan. Taken in by Widow Douglas and civilized. Prefers freedom to domestic life.

WIDOW DOUGLAS (Aunt Sally Phelps) (45-65) A strict buT Loving woman who takes Huck in and raises him.

Miss Watson (Strange Woman) (Soprano. 40-60) Widow Douglas' friend. Strict and traditional she helps to raise Huck.

JIM (Bass/Baritone) (25-45) Miss Watson's slave.

THE DUKE (The Minister) (Tenor. 35-55) Actor turned con-artist.

THE KING (The Schoolmaster) (Baritone. 35-55) Escaped convict and con-artist.

BEN (Lafe/Field Hand) (Baritenor. 18-25)

DICK (Hank/Field Hand/Mark Twain) (Baritenor. 18-25)

SIMON (Andy/Counselor/Field Hand) (Baritenor. 18-25)

JO HARPER (First Man/Young Fool) (Baritenor. 18-25) Tom and Huck's school mates and various other characters.

JUDGE THATCHER (Second Man/Doctor) (Baritone. 45-65)

PAP FINN (Sheriff/Uncle Silas Phelps) (Baritone. 40-55)
Huck's no good, alcoholic father.

MARY JANE WILKES (School Girl/Tart) (Mezzo. 18-25) The grieving daughter of Peter Wilkes.

SUSAN WILKES (School Girl/Tart)

JOAnna Wilkes (School Girl./Tart)

ALICE (Mezzo. 20-40) Slave of Wilkes
