Emmy Award Winning Actor Leslie Jordan performed his one man comedy FRUIT FLY at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret this past weekend. Mr. Jordan travels back in time in FRUIT FLY, sharing childhood recollections including some perilous teenage shenanigans. The show traverses Leslie's life from the day his teenage self sits down with his mother to inform her that he has decided to forego college to become a female impersonator, all the way to a gay Alaskan cruise with 2,000 gay men on which a 53 year old (with shipping and handling) Leslie witnesses his aging mother's metamorphosis. Jordan's storytelling skills and wit abound in this one man comedy.
I must say that Leslie Jordan puts on one hell of a show and his delightful live autobiography was the perfect pre-pride event for Denver. Mr. Jordan tells his stories with all of his Southern charm and a twinkle in his eye. His stories were a lovely homage to his mother and family and a fascinating self-exploration into pride! Leslie whimsically takes his audiences into his coming of age story of coming out and becoming the treasured personality that he is. Be sure to check out this hilarious show coming soon to a city near you.
