Arvada To Hold Auditions For MISS SAIGON 5/26 & 5/27, NYC Auditions Held 6/1-6/3

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for "Miss Saigon" on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Arvada Center. This production will be directed by the Center's Artistic Producer Rod A. Lansberry.

Auditions will be held on May 26 and 27 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (720) 898-7200.

New York auditions will be held June 1 - 3, 2009. EPA auditions will be held on Monday, June 1, chorus auditions on Tuesday, June 2 and by appointment on Wednesday, June 3. New York casting by Scott Wojcik and Gayle Seay of Wojcik Seay Casting. gayle@wscastingonline.com.

Experienced performers with strong acting, singing and dancing abilities are needed. This is an Equity LORT B production, although non-equity actors may audition. Ethnic minorities and cultural varieties are encouraged to audition for all roles. Actors should prepare 16 - 32 bars of up-tempo pop musical theater appropriate to the production. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped music or acappella allowed. A current headshot and resume are required. Equity members must have a current ID card.

Rehearsals for "Miss Saigon" begin on August 25, 2009. The show opens September 15, 2009 and runs through October 11, 2009, Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

MISS SAIGON Character Breakdown Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities

CHRIS--Tenor to G#, 20 - 30s, Caucasian or African-American. Disillusioned and conflicted marine. Strong conscience.

KIM--Belt or strong mix to E, late teen - 20s+, Asian. A young, innocent orphaned Vietnamese woman. Determined, maternal.

JOHN--Tenor to Bb, 25 - 40+, Non-Asian. Chris's superior officer and friend. Passionate and full of life.

GIGI--Experienced bar-girl, crowned "Miss Saigon."

THE ENGINEER--Tenor or strong Baritone to G, 35 - 55, Eurasian or other ethnic background. Owns "Dreamland," an after-hours club in Saigon. Charismatic, chameleon, operator, pimp.

THUY--Tenor to G#, 20s - 30s+, Asian. The man to whom Kim was betrothed by her parents. Militaristic. Threatening. Sees things in black and white.

ELLEN-20 - 30s, Belt or strong mix to E, Caucasian or African-American. Chris's dutiful wife.

TAM--3 - 5 years old, Asian. Kim's very young son. May be played by boy or girl.

American GI's of all types, pimps, bar girls of all races, refugees, tourists of all types, etc.
