And Toto too Theatre Company today announces the final mainstage production of the 2017 season, Flowers in the Desert by Donna Hoke November 2-18, 2017, supported by The Next Stage Now, and the Free Reading Series script The Humanity of Orangutans by Melissa Lucero McCarl wraps up the 12th season for And Toto too which focuses on producing new works by women playwrights.
Flowers in the Desert by Donna Hoke, directed by Susan Lyles and starring Libby Arnold (Naked in Encino-And Toto too Theatre, NY credits : The Libertine-Playhouse Creatures/Theatre Row; Swimming With Watermelons-Vineyard Theatre; Six by Tenn-Red Room; Eleanor Descending -FACT Theatre), and Michael Kennedy (The Crucible -Upstart Crow Theater, Turtles and Bulldogs- Spark Theater, and Visionbox Studio).
Flowers in the Desert: After 14 years of marriage, Britt and Joe called it quits, so Joe is surprised when three years later, Britt asks him to try again. Cheater Joe still loves his ex and their boys, so he's willing to go along with dates nights and counseling- until he realizes that Britt has a very specific agenda.
Donna Hoke's plays include The Couple Next Door (Princess Grace semi-finalist), Safe (winner of the Todd McNerney, Naatak, and Great Gay Play and Musical Contests), Brilliant Works of Art (2016 Kilroys List), and Elevator Girl (2017 O'Neill finalist). Donna is also a New York Times-published crossword puzzle constructor; author of Neko and the Twiggets, a children's book; and founder/co-curator of BUA Takes 10: GLBT Short Stories.
Flowers in the Desert is produced by And Toto too Theatre Company and staged at The Commons on Champa, sponsored by The Next Stage NOW. The Next Stage NOW is a public initiative with a mission to enliven, diversify and sustain the Denver performing Arts Complex. Denver Arts & Venues has made $100,000 available to support public performances, programming and place making initiatives at the Arts Complex in 2017.
Flowers in the Desert will be performed at The Commons on Champa in The Studio at 1245 Champa Street and runs November 2-18, 2017, at 7:30 pm., Thursday-Saturday. Tickets are $25.00 for general public, $22.00 for students and seniors, and Thursday, November 9 is cheap date night when all tickets are $15.00.
