The glamour, spectacle and fashion of 1930s Broadway comes to Boulder's Dinner Theatre (BDT) just in time for the holiday season. Aspirations, hopes and dreams of love and success along the Great White Way tap their way across the stage when 42ND STREET opens at Boulder's Dinner Theatre November 9, 2012 through February 16, 2013.
42ND STREET is an unforgettable tap-dancing extravaganza featuring a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin and music by Harry Warren. The 1980 Broadway
production claimed the Tony Award for Best Musical, followed by a 2001 win by the Broadway revival for Best Revival. Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the subsequent 1933 film adaptation, 42ND STREET is the classic story of a young dancer, Peggy Sawyer, who arrives in New York City with 40 cents in her pocket and a big dream to star on Broadway.
"42ND STREET is musical comedy at its finest," says BDT artistic director Michael J. Duran. "Anyone who's ever chased a dream truly identifies with this story. Add in the most amazing tap dancing sequences and it's a surefire equation for excellent entertainment!"
42ND STREET features Katie Ulrich as Peggy Sawyer and John Scott Clough as Julian Marsh.
Alicia Dunfee plays Dorothy Brock. And Johnny Stewart makes his BDT debut as the charming
Billy Lawlor.
Tickets for 42ND STREET are on sale now. Prices start at just $35, and include both the performance and dinner served by the stars of the show. All tickets for opening weekend (Friday, November 9 - Sunday, November 11, 2012) are just $35. Group rate tickets and season subscriptions are available for all performances throughout the year.
