Vintage Theatre presents "A Time to Kill" April 7 through May 21. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays and Monday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at the Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St., Aurora 80010. "A Time to Kill" tells the story of a young, idealistic lawyer, Jake Brigance, defending a black man, Carl Lee Hailey, for taking the law into his own hands following an unspeakable crime committed against his young daughter. It's up to a young attorney to keep him from a death sentence and a community from being torn apart. Based on John Grisham's explosive best-selling novel.

Local triple threat Drew Hirschboeck takes on the role of lawyer Jake Brigance and Vintage Theatre welcomes newcomer RobertLee Hardy in the role of Carl Lee Hailey. Robert is a Baltimore native and graduate of SUNY Purchase. His film credits include Jamesy Boy and HBO's The Wire and he has written and performed two one-man shows: Me, Myself and Us (2006) and I Carry My Own Spotlight (2015). Rounding out the cast is Miranda Byers (Ellen Roark), Claude Diener (Lucien Wilbanks), Perry Lewis (Rufus Buckley), Jonathan Underwood (Vernon Pate), Linda Suttle ( Judge Olga Noose), Cris Davenport (Ozzie Walls), OD Duhu (Gwen Hailey), Robert Anderson (Wilbert Rodeheaver), Rick Williams (Dr WT Bass), Kimberly Dawkins (Norma Gallo), Emily Tuckman (Drew Tyndale/Cora Cobb), Sean Cummings (Billy Ray Cobb/Terrell Grist) and Seth Harris (Pete Willard / Mr Musgrove).

Rupert Holmes is a British-American composer, singer-songwriter, musician, dramatist and author. He is widely known for the hit singles "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" (1979) and "Him" (1980). He is also known for his musicals Drood, which earned him two Tony Awards, and Curtains, and for his television series Remember WENN.

A Time to Kill is a 1989 legal suspense thriller by John Grisham. It was Grisham's first novel. The novel was adapted into a film of the same name, starring Matthew McConaughey and Samuel L. Jackson. The stage production opened at the Arena Stage (Washington, D.C.) in May 2011 and on Broadway in October 2013.
