Performances run through 17 May.
Gotta Dance! pays tribute to life, to joy and to dance. Venture down memory lane to the carefree age when the remedy for any woe was a swing on the dance floor.
Who doesn't love the golden age of Hollywood, when an elegantly tuxedoed gentleman with polished patent shoes would tip his top hat to invite an adorable girl in a fluttering gown to glide across the floor? That is exactly what the new performance Gotta Dance! is all about, including jazz, ballroom dance, step dance and much more.
Choreographer Gregory Dean whisks the audience back to the swing era, presenting an evening of dance set to immortal tunes performed live by the Tivoli Big Band together with LiveStrings and soloists. Hit after hit by some of the greatest evergreen composers, such as Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin.
The performance is divided into four themes: The first stop is at a railway station, where we meet colourful crowds on their way to conquer the world with high jinks and excitement. Their first destination is romantic Paris, followed by a seductive flirtation at a nightclub. Finally, we pay tribute to Hollywood musicals from the silver screen starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly.
