"Hot Flashbacks": The Golden Gays™ Bring Their Hilarious Drag Parody to Rehoboth Beach
Join Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose in a Musical Adventure to Find Sophia Petrillo
Rehoboth Beach, DE - July 7, 2023: Get ready for a night of laughter, music, and nostalgia as The Golden Gays™ return to The Pines with their original musical, "Hot Flashbacks." This drag trio, consisting of Gerry Mastrolia as "The Rose," Jason Bea Schmidt as "The Dorothy," and Christopher Eklund as "The Blanche," will have you in stitches with their hilarious portrayal of The Golden Girls.
Originating from North Jersey, Gerry Mastrolia's journey in entertainment began at the young age of three when he delighted his family with Three Stooges routines in their living room. Mastrolia's passion for musical theatre led him to perform in various productions, including "Hairspray" and "Seussical." With his incredible talent and infectious energy, Mastrolia brings "The Rose" to life, enchanting audiences with his captivating performances.
Jason Bea Schmidt, renowned as the world's premier Bea Arthur impersonator, resides in Philadelphia with his husband, poodle, and shih tzu. As an actor, voice-over talent, and founding member of The Golden Gays™, Schmidt has an extensive background in off-Broadway, cabaret, and comedy clubs. His Golden Girls journey began with "Thank You for Being a Friend: The Musical," followed by his one-woman show "Beatrice Arthur: Astral Dame." Schmidt's portrayal of "The Dorothy" is nothing short of spectacular, as he captures the essence and wit of the beloved character.
Christopher Eklund, known as "The Blanche," is thrilled to be a part of The Golden Gays™. His admiration for The Golden Girls started at a young age, having watched every episode long before reaching puberty. Eklund's impressive theatrical credits, including performances opposite RuPaul's Drag Race season 7 queen Mrs. Kasha Davis, highlight his talent and versatility. As "The Blanche," Eklund brings a touch of charm and sass to the stage, making his performance an absolute delight.
