If your brother's best friend is a tall, invisible rabbit, is that any reason to have him confined at Chumley's Rest sanitarium? In Possum Point Players' winter dinner theatre production of the classic comedy "Harvey," Elwood Dowd's sister Veta tries that. However, not even an invisible and somewhat magic rabbit could have predicted the chain of events that Veta sets off as she attempts to have him locked up, hopefully along with Harvey.
For those who want to "see" what happens to Harvey and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, tickets are now on sale for performances Jan. 29, 30, 31 and Feb. 5, 6 and 7. Lewes resident Linda Killion, director, has assembled a seasoned cast from several southern Delaware communities. Also from Lewes are Stephanie Allman, Doug Friend, Malcolm Keen and Michael Murnin. Barbara Logan and E.J. Panico are from Seaford, and Rosanne Pack and Kenney Workman are from Milford. Rounding out the cast, Cheryl Graves is from Rehoboth Beach; Marsha Shull, Dagsboro, and Michael Williams, Georgetown.
"Harvey," a Mary Chase comedy written in 1943, has stood the test of time. A harmless but whacky relative, a frenetic mother trying to expand the prospects of a daughter nearing an awkward age of maturity and the staff of an asylum that could swap places with the patients without attracting any attention are all as relevant and commonplace today as they were in the 40's.
The comedy may be timeless, but the dinner is fresh and hot off the stove and right out of the oven as Possum Point Players present "Harvey."
"Harvey" is being produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
