Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. The winner of eight TONY awards, including Best Musical, the light-hearted show also teaches a sweet lesson of tolerance. Possum Hall is located at 441 Old Laurel Rd. Georgetown. Tickets are $23, adults and $22 for students and seniors; they may be purchased at www.possumpointplayers.org or at the ticketline, 856-4560.
Spirits are higher than the hair-dos in "Hairspray" as chubby teenager Tracy longs to live her own Cinderella story in '60s Baltimore. Her idea of the perfect life is to be able to dance on the Corny Collins Show where everybody is a somebody, as long as they are thin and white. However, as Tracy gets her dancing shoes moving, she begins to spin things faster than Corny's turntable can spin a record. Even folks in Baltimore might find a Prince Charming and live happily ever after.
"Hairspray" is directed by Michael J. Murnin, and Melanie Bradley is music director.
Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
