Local Boys Cast as 'Tom of Warwick' in CAMELOT, Coming to Rodney Square Tonight

The Playhouse on Rodney Square is pleased to announce that Collin Jeffery, Luke Plunkett, and Sam Melba have been cast as "Tom of Warwick" in the upcoming Wilmington engagement of the 2014/2015 National Tour of Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT at The Playhouse on Rodney Square.

Tom of Warwick is a young boy destined to be a Knight. He wants to fight for what is right and gives Arthur hope for the future. The three boys were selected from a pool of local applicants, all of whom submitted video auditions. Sam Melba (age 11) is a native of Newark, Delaware. He has been acting in school plays for two years. His roles have included Pinocchio in Big Bad Musical and Wolf in The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever. Besides acting, Sam enjoys Legos, Minecraft, and learning random trivia facts. Luke Plunkett (age 10) is a 4th grader at St. Mary Magdalen School. His stage career began at the Delaware Children's Theatre where he was cast in four consecutive productions including the lead role of Tiny Tim in Scrooge. In addition to his interest in the theatre, Luke is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. Collin Jeffery (age 8) discovered his love for the stage at the age of six. His most memorable shows include Wizard of Oz, Scrooge, and Jack and the Beanstalk. When not acting, Collin enjoys swimming, playing piano, and drawing. He also loves the beach and has a fondness for animals, especially dogs.

The 2014/2015 National Tour of Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT reimagines the classic tale of King Arthur, Guenevere and Lancelot and WILMINGTON can fall in love all over again with this beloved musical TONIGHT, APRIL 14 THROUGH SUNDAY, APRIL 19 at THE PLAYHOUSE ON RODNEY SQUARE.

Broadway's sweeping tale of passion, pageantry and betrayal is the winner of 4 Tony Awards, 3 Academy Awards and has never been more enthralling than in this new production. Intimate and fresh, CAMELOT'S celebrated score includes the classics "If Ever I Would Leave You," "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood," and the title song, "Camelot."

CAMELOT features a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe and is based on the King Arthur legend adapted from the T.H. White novel The Once and Future King. This all-new production is directed by Michael McFadden and features Scenic Design by Kevin Depinet, Lighting Design by Mike Baldassari and Sound Design by Craig Cassidy.

Taught well by Merlin, King Arthur, with his beautiful new queen Guenevere, rule the kingdom of CAMELOT with new ideals, bringing peace to a troubled land. With the addition of the dashing Sir Lancelot to the Knights of the Round Table, one of the most fabled love triangles of all time ensues. Mordred, King Arthur's illegitimate son, catches on and sees a kingdom in chaos and attempts to destroy all that is CAMELOT!

The original 1960 production ran on Broadway for 873 performances and spawned several revivals, foreign productions and the 1967 film. The original cast album was America's top-selling LP for 60 weeks.
