The Clear Space Theatre Company of Rehoboth Beach is putting the finishing touches on AN AMERICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL in preparation for opening night on Friday, November 29th - directly following the Rehoboth Beach Christmas Tree Lighting. This year, Clear Space is presenting popular Charles Dickens' tale with a new and distinctly American slant, as it is relocated from London, England in 1843 to London, Kentucky in 1937 - toward the end of the Great Depression. With music by Clear Space Artistic Director Doug Yetter and lyrics by Michael Hulett, the production maintains all of the original characters as well as the themes we've all grown to love. Director and Production Set Designer Kevin Smith brings a fresh perspective to the traditional "old War Horse" saga by adding much more "spirit," knowing that Dickens' intention was to write a ghost story which happens to occur on Christmas Eve, which this revitalized version cleverly delivers!

Doug Yetter reprises his role as the crotchety old curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge for the 5th year and is supported by a talented cast, including: Anthony Natoli (Bob Cratchit), Christopher Berg (Scrooge's nephew, Fred), Jerry Birl (Ghost of Christmas Past), Joe DiRocco (Jacob Marley), John Marino (Mr. Fezziwig), Liane Hansen (Mrs. Dilber), Carolyn Robinson (Lady of Charity), Sharon Gambill (Mrs. Fezziwig), Lorraine Steinhoff (Mrs. Cratchit), Grace Morris (Scrooge's sister, Fan), Abby Toomey (Scrooge's fiancée, Belle), Kelsey Murphy (Fred's wife, Sally), Wade Stout (Tiny Tim), Ryan Bradley (Peter Cratchit), Evan Hartnett (Belinda Cratchit) and Nycole Abrams.

The production plays Friday and Saturday nights at 7p.m. and Sundays at 3p.m. through December 22nd, with four special weekday matinees Thursday, December 5th and 12th at 9a.m. and noon. Mark your calendars and join the cast at the Fezziwig's barn dance. Smith's new sets will leave no doubt that you have arrived Down South in London, Kentucky!

Curtain time for opening night only is set for 7:30p.m. to allow audience members to first attend the Christmas tree lighting event at the bandstand in Rehoboth Beach and then walk around the corner to the theatre for the perfect start to the holiday season.
