"The response that we have gotten this season from loyal Playhouse subscribers and from the attending public has been even stronger than we had hoped, and that enthusiasm has given us the confidence to go bigger, bolder, and better in 2016-17 than even the current season," says Executive Director Mark Fields. "Six of these productions have never played The Playhouse, and one will come to Wilmington before it plays in Philadelphia. With the audience's support, we are restoring the local, and national, reputation of The Playhouse on the touring Broadway circuit."
Also announced at the exclusive launch event was a title sponsorship by Bank of America. "We are extremely gratified at the show of support for the Broadway in Wilmington series from the corporate sector, and especially Bank of America," says Fields. "We see this commitment as an endorsement of this series' re-emergence, and their support bodes well for touring Broadway in Wilmington and for Wilmington itself."
"Our goal is to make financial lives better for the people of Delaware and when we support events like the Broadway in Wilmington series we are making an investment in our community's growth," says Chip Rossi, Bank of America Delaware Market President. "We believe this series will be a tremendous driver of economic development for the city of Wilmington - and the overall state of Delaware."
The upcoming season also boasts lower ticket prices due to an increased subscription base and the rebuilding of positive relationships with key Broadway producers. These savings have been passed on to the patrons with season ticket packages currently on sale starting at $150. Tickets may be ordered by calling The Playhouse Box Office at 302.888.0200, or online at www.ThePlayhouseDE.org. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date to be announced.
