Whether you're looking for a holiday musical, a feel-good play or something completely different, live theater in Delaware is happening throughout Delaware this December. Here's a short list for your consideration:

BOOTLESS STAGEWORKS
STELLA - A Script Read with Conversation
Alone in a darkened room, a man waits for a knock on the door. As the minutes tick by he looks back across a life filled with laughter, heartbreak and rage-a life spent searching for the courage to truly be himself. Inspired by the true story of Mr. Ernest Boulton, a Victorian bank clerk who reinvented himself as a woman, STELLA is a deeply personal meditation revealing what it takes to keep your nerve as the lights go out. It is both a love letter to the past and an urgent inquiry into living in the present.

CLEAR SPACE THEATRE COMPANY
A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE MUSICAL
Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical), breathe new life into this classic tale. Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

They are partying at Pelican Roost, the full-service retirement community that is home to the 18 different characters played by the show's two actors. THE POSSUM POINT PLAYERS
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
In our American culture, It's a Wonderful Life has become almost as familiar as Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The story is a natural for a stage adaptation: the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.

SECOND STREET PLAYERS
MIRCLE ON 34TH STREET
"This is a tale that we want to believe in, that creates a world we seem to desperately desire, free of the blatant commercialism that surrounds us, where love and decency and generosity of spirit are their own rewards. What we want Christmas to be all about, really." So writes the Santa Cruz Sentinel of this most heartwarming holiday story.

WILMINGTON DRAMA LEAGUE
A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL
This classic holiday tale centers on a mischievous, bespectacled boy, Ralphie, who dreams of getting a BB-gun for Christmas. In the weeks before the big holiday, Ralphie, his friends and his family get into all kinds of situations - including run-ins with a bully with "yellow eyes," a tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bar of soap in the mouth, a garish leg lamp, a major award and a Chinese Christmas dinner.
