Victoria Theatre Association's Family Series is back for its 25th year of family entertainment full of space-age journeys, zany music and fairy tales!
Formerly known as the Young at Heart Family Series, the Victoria Family Series' 2010-2011 season lineup includes fun for children of all ages: Star Trek Live, Mooseltoe: The Moosical, The Gizmo Guys, Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco, and Beauty and the Beast. For 25 years, Victoria Theatre Association has presented quality, entertaining programs complete with pre-performance craft activities and study guides (available online) for each production. Tailored to children ages 4-12 and their families, the Victoria Family Series is the largest and oldest performing arts series for children in the Miami Valley.
Mooseltoe: The Moosical - December 4 & 5, 2010 Meet Mooseltoe, a loveable moose with high hopes and big dreams! This magical production takes us on a journey with Mooseltoe as he travels through a wintry wonderland to learn the secret of flight. Celebrities from Broadway, TV and the movies provide the voices of Mooseltoe and his friends as he learns valuable life lessons that help him on his path - and will also help "the Big Man" himself, Santa Claus! Filled with original songs and amazing costumes designed by the man behind the building and maintenance of the costumes for Disney's THE LION KING, Mooseltoe is the perfect way for the whole family to celebrate the holiday season!
The Gizmo Guys, January 22-23, 2011 This world-renowned comedic juggling duo has captivated audiences for more than twenty years! This dynamic duo has travelled all over the world, performing on television, winning international competitions and teaching at top notch schools along the way. However, Allan Jacobs and Barrett Felker are more than just a juggling act. Their quick wit, side-splitting humor and show-stopping original routines come together to form a performance that the whole family will not want to miss!
Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco - February 26 & 27, 2011 Get ready to dance in the aisles and celebrate Mardi Gras at the Victoria! This highly interactive, show-stopping performance will have you wanting to learn more about this upbeat, inspiring style of Creole music: Zydeco! Grammy award-winning artist Terrance Simien has been spreading his love of music to audiences all over the world for over two decades. An 8th generation native Louisiana Creole, Simien created Creole for Kids so he could teach young people all about the unique style of Zydeco. Simien's music was recently featured in Disney's Princess and the Frog, a strong testament to his musical genius and wide appeal.Beauty and the Beast - April 2 & 3, 2011 Come experience one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time, Beauty and the Beast, in an all-new production. Based on the French tale written in the 18th century, this full-scale production is complete with beautiful songs, dance numbers, and lavish costumes. The nation's premiere producer of family musicals, American Family Theatre, turns their skills to this timeless classic of loyalty and romance.
Season tickets for the Victoria Family Series are priced at a family friendly $77 for adults and $67 for children (ages 12 and under). Each Series Subscription includes one ticket for each show of the Victoria Family Series.
