Victoria Theatre Association presents 3 Mo' Divas as part of the KeyBank African American Festival on January 16, 2011 at 7:30 pm in the Mead Theatre of the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center in downtown Dayton.

Classically trained vocalists, the ladies of 3 Mo' Divas take audiences on a musical journey through all genres of music from Broadway hits to rock-n-roll classics, from opera to jazz - and more!

From Wicked's "Defying Gravity" and Rent's "Seasons of Love" to the popular R&B like "My Boyfriend's Back" to Spirituals like "His eye on the Sparrow" and even opera, with Gershwin's Porgy and Bess' "Summertime" and "Quando m'en vo" from La Boheme, these three ladies keeps the audience on the edge of their seats with thrilling performances. Sweeping the stage with their dazzling performance skills, 3 Mo' Divas is a "...a nonstop dazzler, full of sass, class, electricity and, lots of joy," says Paul Hyde of The Greenville (SC) News.

About the Divas:

N'Kenge made her Broadway debut this year in Sondheim on Sondheim directed by James Lapine and starring Vanessa Williams and Barbara Cook. N'Kenge has been taking the music scene by storm with her versatility and show stopping stage presence. A native New Yorker and graduate of both the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, N'Kenge has been performing around the world singing from Opera to Pop. Her many appearances include Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall performing alongside Wynton Marsalis and Ornette Coleman at Lincoln Center. N'Kenge was last seen on national television performing "God Bless America" for LA Dodger's 2009 Opening Game and had the honor to give a solo performance for the Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural Ball hosted by President Obama.

Laurice Lanier, originally from Jackson, TN, is a graduate of the Juilliard School. Her strong vocal training comes from the incomparable, Edith Bers. Laurice has been named by Maryland Public Television, One of the Most Versatile Voices in the Planet. She has performed various roles in Opera Houses, Theatres, Concerts Halls, Private Functions, and Churches throughout the United States and abroad. Menna Feenstra, artistic director of the Royal Opera House said, "When Laurice sings you forget the bad in your life."

Nova Y. Payton is a native of Washington, DC. This breathtaking songstress is known for her vibrant performances, stretching the vocal boundaries of Classical, R&B, Jazz and today's Neo-soul and starred in a soul-stirring rendition of Effie White in Dreamgirls, which garnered her nomination for a 2006 Barrymore Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Nova's unforced passion has given her the opportunity to work with an array of A-list artists such as Stevie Wonder, Ashford & Simpson, Yolanda Adams, Karen Clark-Sheard, IMX, Hezekiah Walker, FrEddie Jackson, Will Downing and others. She is currently working with Roberta Flack as a background singer.

Tickets

Tickets start at $36, with discounts available for available for senior citizens, students and groups. Tickets are on sale now through Ticket Center Stage, and may be purchased at the Schuster Center box office in downtown Dayton or by phone, at (937) 228-3630 or toll free (888) 228-3630. Ticket Center Stage hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday, noon - 4 p.m., and two hours prior to each performance. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.ticketcenterstage.com.
