Victoria Theatre Association presents THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR "Journey of Hope" tour as a part of the KeyBank African-American Arts Festival Thursday, April 1 at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center.

A truly inspiring experience, THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR's TM "Journey of Hope" tour has captivated audiences all over the world. Comprised of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries, THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR strives to help children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness. Their unmatched talent and excellent performances has moved many audiences and is the reason for the Choir's immense success.

The African Children's Choir was formed in 1984 by human rights activist, Ray Barnett. In the midst of Uganda's bloody civil war, Barnett was "...Inspired by the singing of one small boy.." and formed the first African Children's ChoirTM, "... to show the world that Africa's most vulnerable children have beauty, dignity and unlimited ability" said Barnett. The wonderful music combined with the children's message of hope and fortitude makes for an unforgettable show that will leave audiences spellbound and wanting more.

Artistdirect.com describes the performance as "Radiating joy, enthusiasm, and optimism, THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR has the ability to totally transfix an audience while presenting its uniquely choreographed dance and vocal talents." This unique and energetic production makes for a perfect night the whole family will enjoy.

Proceeds from the tour are placed toward assisting the thousands of orphans and starving children affected by conditions in their home countries. THE AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIRTM provides care and education that builds on the unique international exposure the Choir's children experienced abroad. The children receive a quality education, leadership training and spiritual ministry at the Music for Life Primary School in Kampala, or at other well-equipped schools in their respective countries.
