Shadowbox Live Announces Summer Line Up Of Shows ImageShadowbox Live's metaperformers are committed to creating original work. And, this summer they continue to stretch their artistic wings with productions that express their passions, sense of humor, and creativity.

Kicking off the summer season is the company created musical F#(k Cancer: The Musical an original dark comedy that examines three dynamic lives interrupted by this disease. With book by Shadowbox Head Writer Jimmy Mak and music & lyrics from international recording artist Ed Hamell (Hamell on Trial) this show will pull no punches in reminding us that the power of love, family, and laughter can bring light to our darkest hours.

F#(k Cancer: The Musical will help Shadowbox Live continue its commitment to community engagement. Partnering with friends like Pelotonia and Cardinal Health, the company will use the show to raise funds and awareness. Additionally, audiences will be invited to share their stories in an interactive, living art exhibit that will celebrate the survivors and honor the brave warriors in the fight against cancer.

Additionally, F#(K Cancer has received the Columbus Arts Prize to fund a studio recording of the original music from the show.

F#(k Cancer: The Musical opens on Thursday, June 14th at 7:30pm and runs select Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays until August 26th.

Next up, Shadowbox Live reveals its sexy-silly side with its newest sketch comedy and rock 'n' roll show Sex, Love, and Rock 'n' Roll. Alien abductions, reality TV, awkward teenagers, Cher, and Keith Richards are among the fodder for the talented Shadowbox Live comedy writers. And, songs from Prince, Evanescence, Beastie Boys, Van Halen, Pink, and ZZ Top will scorch the already hot summer nights.

Sex, Love, and Rock 'n' Roll opens Thursday, June 28 at 7:30pm and runs Fridays and Saturdays through September 8th.

In July, Shadowbox Live's Rock Arts Bootcamp puts a new class of courageous high school and college age students through the rigors of its acclaimed arts intensive.

Students are submerged into the life of a metaperformer learning skills such as vocal and music performance, sketch comedy acting, dance, and arts administration (including PR, Marketing, and Social Media). Along the way they learn life skills such as teamwork, perspective, tolerance, honesty, and tough love.

The Shadowbox Live's Rock Arts Bootcamp culminates in a one-of-a-kind performance on Friday, July 27th.

And, just when you start to notice a hint of autumn in the night air, Shadowbox Live will present its newest dance theater production Desire.

Choreographer Katy Psenicka brings to life famous literary characters with contemporary dances as seen through the eyes of two literature professors who are working together on an academic project. Writer Jimmy Mak weaves the professors' storyline through the dances in a sultry exploration of the ups and downs of Desire.

Desire opens Thursday, August 9 at 7:30pm and runs select Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays through November 8.

All shows range from $25 - $40 and student, senior, and military discounts are available. Please visit www.shadowboxlive.org for more information / reservations.
