The La Comedia Dinner Theatre offers a delightful Christmas show this holiday season, perfect for a family event. Christmas Spectacular plays now through December 31st at the theatre in Springboro, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati.
Christmas Specatular has it all: exciting dance numbers from sixteen high-kicking Rockette style of dancers called the "Holiday Belles", everyone's favorite Christmas songs, a story about believing in the magic of Santa, and a biblical Nativity scene recounting the birth of Jesus. The first act follows a group of children who, all but one, believe they are too grown up to believe in Santa Claus. Virginia (Cara Severson) believes and refuses to let her mind be changed by her siblings Nellie (Tracie Marie Pfrogner), Suzy (Lauren Meltzer), and Johnny (TRoy Patrick). Santa appears, and one by one with Virginia's help, they convince each child to believe again with the help of Santa's magic. Interwoven into the story are high energy musical productions by the "Holiday Belles," including a retelling of The Nutcracker and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers.
The second act features the Nativity Story, told along with many favorite carols including "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Away in the Manger," "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Joy to the World," and "O Holy Night." The re-enactment of Christmas night is done in a live nativity style, which is a nice contrast from the glitz and high energy of the first act. The performers, dressed in traditional garments of the time period, provide beautiful renditions of the classic carols.
Christmas Spectacular runs through December 31st at La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio. Adult tickets range in price from $51-$69. Children 11 and under are just $28 for every show. Call 1-800-677-9505 or visit www.lacomedia.com.
