Dayton Playhouse YouTheatre is thrilled to present their production of the Broadway classic "Guys & Dolls"! This "fable of Broadway", a sentimental favorite, is based on "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown" and "Blood Pressure", 2 short stories by Damon Runyon, and also uses characters from other Runyon short stories, most notably "Pick A Winner." Set in New York City, this oddball romantic comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll;" Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer; and Nathan Detroit, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.

"Guys & Dolls" debuted on Broadway on November 24th, 1950 and won 5 Tony Awards in 1951, including Best Musical and Best Direction. Under the skilled direction of Natalie Houliston (director of last year's well-received YouTheatre production of "Bye Bye, Birdie") and featuring young local actors, Dayton Playhouse's YouTheatre production opens on June 25th at the Dayton Playhouse at 8 pm and runs the whole weekend (Saturday, June 26th at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday, June 27th at 2pm). Tickets are available through the Dayton Playhouse website (www.daytonplayhouse.org) or by calling the box office (937-424-8477). Prices are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for students.

The cast list includes: Kyle Himsworth as "Nathan Detroit", Maranda Rossi as "Miss Adelaide", Micah Trout as "Sky Masterson" and Cari Meixner as "Sarah Brown", as well as a host of other talented, vibrant young people. "Guys & Dolls" is one of theatres most enduring classics, and features such songs as "Fugue For Tinhorns (I Got The Horse Right Here), "Bushel And A Peck", "Sit Down Your Rocking The Boat" and the beloved standard "Luck Be A Lady". This show is sure to please audiences of all ages.

This production made possible in part through continued support from Culture Works and the Ohio Arts Council.
