Casanova and Eve of Frankenstein

October 28-31, 2010 ~ Victoria Theatre

Guest Choreographer, Jeffrey Graham Hughes opens the 2010-2011 season with a brand new work about one of history's most notorious playboys - Giacomo Casanova. Set as a retrospective of his life and loves, Casanova is a physical and passionate ballet about romance and regrets. Dayton Ballet's own Karen Russo Burke returns with another eerie ballet- perfect for Halloween weekend. Eve of Frankenstein poses the question: What if Frankenstein were a...woman? True to Russo Burke's form, Eve of Frankenstein will evoke emotion, feature phenomenal dance and thrill your Halloween weekend.

The Nutcracker
December 10-19, 2010 ~ Schuster Center

Mice, soldiers and the Sugar Plum Fairy grace the stage of the Schuster Center once again in Dayton Ballet's presentation of The Nutcracker. Over 100 local children participate in the telling of the story of young Virginia Weiffenbach (Kettering) and her beloved Nutcracker. The Nutcracker has become a Holiday tradition for countless families and friends and continues to warm the hearts of Daytonians and ballet lovers every year!

A Streetcar Named Desire
February 10-11, 2011 ~ Victoria Theatre

February brings Karen Russo Burke's critically acclaimed A Streetcar Named Desire back to the Victoria stage. Originally premiered in 2008, Russo Burke's ballet features original music, breath-taking choreography and dramatic acting that brings audiences to their feet. Also on the program are repertory pieces yet-to-be-determined but sure to entertain.

NEW MUSIC for NEW DANCE
March 24-27, 2011 ~ Victoria Theatre

The Miriam Rosenthal Memorial Trust Fund and Dayton Ballet present NEW MUSIC for NEW DANCE: an innovation project that pairs emerging composers and choreographers with dancers and musicians, culminating in a series of world premiere ballet performances. Keeping in the spirit of Dayton Ballet's national reputation as the "Company of Premiers," NEW MUSIC for NEW DANCE is an inventive, one-of-a-kind project that seeks to excite audiences and introduce new music and new choreography to the community.
