Victoria Theatre Association presents the Chase Broadway University's Changed for Good 10 Minute Playwriting Festival project winners. In association with the Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series presentation of WICKED, six plays written by high school students were selected for production and presentation at the Festival. The Changed for Good Festival takes place March 5-7, 2010 and is open to the public.

From a submission pool of 25 plays from six area high schools, six winning plays have been selected:
· The Big, the Bad, and the Ugly- by Philip Kellogg (Yellow Springs High School)
· The Tortoise and the Hare: A Prequel- by Jasmine Crowder, Courtney Gordon, Janicqua Jordan and Eleesha Moore (Dayton Early College Academy)
· Here, Kitty-Kitty...- by Ben Cloud, Prentiss Haney, Taylor Kingston and Anne Scott (Stivers School for the Arts High School)
· A Charming Deceit- by John Dewar, Phillip Mercurio, Bryson Smith and Dydney Stacy (Stivers School for the Arts High School)
· Hooked on Therapy- by Stefany Lewis and Shirlisa Scott (Stivers School for the Arts High School)
· The Fairest of Them All- Elise Duncan, Sherry Jiao, Nandini Srinivasan, and Grace Wannemacher (Beavercreek High School)

"The students worked in teams of three or four to create their new twist on an old story," said David Brush, Manager - Education and Outreach at Victoria Theatre Association. "These are not just modern retellings, but the students are imagining the story from a different point of view or with different character reactions and responses."

The students attended a series of workshops to select their source, develop their ideas, and construct their script. At the second workshop, the students split into groups to give and receive unbiased feedback for each of the various plays. Not only did each group get help from the other participants, but they also had the opportunity to socialize and brainstorm with students from different high schools.

"I've always worked backstage for plays and musicals, so it's been awesome to learn the whole thinking and writing process behind playwriting and getting it started!" said Changed for Good participant and Archbishop Alter High School student Jordan Hibner.

These six remarkable original plays will be presented in conjunction with Sinclair Community College Theatre Department as the centerpiece of the Changed for Good 10 Minute Playwriting Festival weekend, March 5-7, 2010 in the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Center's Mathile Theatre. Seating is general admission and free to the public.
