Review: CRAZY FOR YOU at Wright State University Image

If you are looking for an evening of fun and you are a fan of dance, particularly tap, then you need to make your reservations to see CRAZY FOR YOU at Wright State University.

CRAZY FOR YOU takes the music we love from George and Ira Gershwin and joins it with the book by Ken Ludwig for a light-hearted story about our hero, Bobby Child, who wants two things out of life: to dance and to win the heart of the lovely Polly. In classic romantic comedy form, misunderstandings and hijinx ensue before we are treated to our happy ending. We are just fortunate to have it all play out through song and dance.

I love to watch tap dancing. Ever since my days as a kid watching Gene Kelly in SINGING IN THE RAIN, it has been my favorite part of theatre. CRAZY FOR YOU did not disappoint me. All of the performers, particularly Joey Kennedy as Bobby Child. He not only had a great voice but also, magic feet. He is paired very well with Taylor Patrick's Polly Baker. Her fiery spirit was a great match for Kennedy's smooth charm. Together, their chemistry was very endearing.

The greatest star of the show was the choreography by Teressa Wylie McWiliams and the ensemble performed it with tremendous energy and a few surprises. Every moment lead to me wanting more. I was extremely proud of all of the students as I know they were of themselves. If you have never given university theatre a chance, you should at every opportunity. You never know what future star you will be supporting.

You still have several chances to see CRAZY FOR YOU. The remaining performances are November 15 at 7 PM, November 9, 10, 16, 17 at 8 PM and November 10, 1, 17, 18 at 2 PM. Tickets for adults are $25, seniors are $23 and students are $15. For ticket information, please call 937-775-2500 or go online at www.wright.edu/tdmp.
