Debut Sounds: Sound in Motion is the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual concert showcasing the LPO’s Young Composers. The concept sees five composers and eight choreographers collaborating to create the final works shown, with the music played by musicians from the LPO Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme, alongside LPO players, all led by representatives of the LPO Fellow Conductors.

BroadwayWorld Toronto spoke to ALL IS LOVE star Brueggergosman-Lee about her love for the show and the company, the importance of taking risks, and how her upcoming Governor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award is really an encouragement to keep creating.

Sadler’s Wells is a busy old place, with numerous performance spaces, departments and associated initiatives. One being the very worthwhile Young Associates programme which helps “talented dance artists aged 18-24 giving them a crucial first step into their careers as choreographers”.

Vortices and abstract expressionism: easy-breezy inspo for the Russell Maliphant Dance Company (RMDC) then. But definitely not a problem for me. I’ll take experimental over formulaic any day. And this isn't a new trend for the RMDC, as they’ve been taking a similar approach since their 1996 inception. But does experimentation guarantee success? I’d hope it’s more about discovery…and that as we know, can go either way. So fasten your seatbelts!

He always adds a sense of levity and humor to his work and I can never watch an Alan Tanner video without smiling.'

Born out of David Kramer's photographic intrigue and romantic imaginings, LANGARM presents a snippet into a lesser-explored world of 1960s District Six that combines the best of experienced local performers with rising talent to watch. From breaking laws to breaking hearts, this latest Kramer production is a magical musical and dance journey through a fresh offering to the Fugard stage.

With the juggernaut that is Hamilton playing DC this summer, it was probably a good marketing strategy for the Kennedy Center to use its new Broadway Center Stage series to (re)-introduce local audiences to Lin-Manuel Miranda's first Broadway musical, the Tony Award-winning In the Heights. Avid local theatergoers have likely seen the show before and fairly recently at that. Last season, Olney Theater Center and Round House Theatre co-produced a well-received production and GALA Hispanic Theatre presented the U.S. Spanish language premiere. However, the five-night, sold out run at Kennedy Center offers another look at the show - this time with an Encores-like staging featuring some of Broadway's best talent directed by original cast member Stephanie Klemons.

Great theatre, simply put, relies on drive. Any production can have the ingredients of a show worth watching, but not many have the plain ol' gumption it takes to use them to their full potential. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Newsies does. It overflows with passion and determination, as infectious as the cartoonish charm that's become synonymous with the show's title.
