A Puget Sound native, Miss Amanda (Owner & Artistic Director) returned to the PNW after nearly a decade performing, choreographing, teaching, and continuing her own dance training in other corners of the globe. Upon completing her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in NY with a double major in Dance and Movement Science and a minor in Science and Society, Miss Amanda embarked on a professional career as a dancer, performing in a variety of venues in AZ, CT, MN, NC, NY, OR, WA, WY, Italy and Austria with companies such as Center Dance Ensemble (soloist), Co-Art Dance, University of Oregon Repertory Dance Company, Joint Forces Dance Company, Walrus Dance Company and BQ Danza.

In 2008 Miss Amanda co-founded the BareFoot Collective (a community-based organization dedicated to creating opportunities for dance in the Greater Tacoma Area) and served as a Co-Director until 2011 when she became Artistic Director of Spotlight Dance Center. She holds an M.F.A in Dance from the University of Oregon where she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow instructing students in modern, ballet, jazz, and tap dance. Miss Amanda is also a certified Acrobatic Arts Teacher, DanceAbiltiy (dance for people both with and without disabilities) Teacher, has presented research at annual Int’l Assoc. of Dance Medicine and Science conferences, and is published in the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science as well as the Journal of Dance Education. Miss Amanda believes strongly in the brain-compatible curriculum taught at SDC and loves sharing her passion for dance with her youngest students in diapers to her oldest in pointe shoes!
