Navy Pier has announced the return of its free performing arts festival 'Chicago Live!,' slated for Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22. This year's event will be the largest to-date, welcoming more than 100 Chicago-grown performing groups in back-to-back performances across five Pier stages.

Winifred Haun & Dancers (WH&D) continues its 25th Moonstone Season with FIRST DRAFT: New Work by Chicago Dancemakers. FIRST DRAFT 2023 will be a showcase of 8 new works by 8 Chicago area choreographers, from March 3 to 5 at Link's Hall. 

Northside Southside Oneside will be a series of monthly events at the new Mayfair Arts Center starting May 15 and running through October 16 featuring more than 20 Chicago-based music, dance and visual artists in free classes and informal performances.

Chicago Dancers United, which supports the health and wellness of Chicago’s professional dance community, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its primary annual fundraiser, Dance for Life, with a return to live performance August 26 on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion stage in Millennium Park.

To get the performing arts in Cincinnati up and running again and to ensure the health and safety of their guests, staff and artists, a group of performing arts organizations and venues in Cincinnati announced today that they will require audience members to wear masks and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test certification for productions beginning this fall.

The Palace Theater management in accordance with the Governor's directive to prohibit all gatherings of 50 people or more, has postponed all events and activities through April 30th.

Yesterday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued an order banning public gatherings of 100 or more people until further notice to slow the spread of the coronavirus. This directive remains in effect until the State of Emergency is lifted or the Director of Health rescinds the order.

Boston Ballet's rEVOLUTION: Dance on the Edge features three works by pivotal choreographers which stretch the label 'contemporary' to its breaking point. The three pieces, which all premiered between 1957-1987 may trace through the timeline of progress for commercial ballet in America, but I question if anything a ballet company can do could live up to the streamlined, techno aesthetic toted by their marketing team. The title, with its radical use of capitalization, cuts through the smooth blackness on the cover of the program above a photograph of two dancers in an acrobatic pose in green leotards. Inside the booklet, a geometrically conceived sketch of a dancer invites us to an event called 'Turning Pointe' where we can engage with a?oeleading innovators in the arts, sciences, and industry who are building the future in Boston.a?? Another page announces Boston Ballet's upcoming collaboration with Stephen Galloway, the creative movement director for the Rolling Stones, promising to a?oeshatter expectations of what ballet can bea??.
