Maryland Youth Ballet’s mission is multi-focused to provide the region with: the highest caliber classical ballet training to prepare young dancers for successful careers in the performing arts; the highest quality of classes for both recreational and professional adults; affordable professional-quality ballet performances; opportunities for financially disadvantaged minority children to be exposed to ballet; training scholarships for those with dance potential; and young children with physical disabilities, the opportunity to experience the joy of dance movement.

Bowen McCauley Dance Company, the award-winning contemporary dance company who closed out its 25th and final season tonight at The Kennedy Center, announces partnerships with The Kennedy Center and George Mason University's School of Dance to continue free Dance for Parkinson's Disease (Dance for PD) classes. Earlier this year, BMDC announced a similar partnership with the Maryland Youth Ballet, and this triad of partnerships will ensure that Dance for PD classes are accessible throughout the DC Metro area.

10 Hairy Legs Announces 2017/2018 Season

10 Hairy Legs, the all-male repertory dance company extends its footprint during its sixth season of performances and educational programming, appearing in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Vermont, as well as in its home state of New Jersey.  Artistic Director Randy James noted, "We are pleased to have had such a positive and wide-reaching response from our presenting partners across the county to our vision of exploring the artistry of the male dancer. With more than 23 works in our repertory including 14 commissioned works, we bring a wealth of ways to investigate and illuminate the male role in dance today and to display the tremendous versatility of our company members while inviting interesting conversations about gender roles." 

San Francisco Ballet Announces 2017-18 Season Company Members

San Francisco Ballet announces ten promotions, eight new Company members, and six apprentices for the 2017-18 Season. Soloist Jennifer Stahl has been promoted to principal dancer, and Isabella DeVivo, Jahna Frantziskonis, Esteban Hernandez, and Steven Morse have been promoted to soloist. In addition, SF Ballet Apprentices Alexandre Cagnat, Shene Lazarus, Davide Occhipinti, Nathaniel Remez, and Isabella Walsh have been promoted to the corps de ballet. Ulrik Birkkjaer and Ana Sophia Scheller join the Company as principal dancers and Solomon Golding, Gabriela Gonzalez, Blake Johnston, Madison Keesler, Wona Park, and Joseph Warton have joined SF Ballet as corps de ballet members. Ethan Chudnow, Anatalia Hordov, Carmela Mayo, Swane Messaoudi, Larisa Nugent, and Benjamin Pearson of San Francisco Ballet School have been promoted to the rank of apprentice.
