About KATHA DANCE THEATRE
Katha Dance Theatre has built a community through dance and movement, and is dedicated to
taking dance beyond the traditional studio and theater spaces. In addition to creating new dance
works and training the next generation of dance artists, KDT engages in innovative community
outreach activities and offers a variety of classes, workshops, and performance experiences. The company believes that anyone, regardless of health or physical capacity, can learn to dance. Dance
inspires, engages, and empowers, whether you’re a performer or an audience member. KDT’s
outreach program sessions take place in schools, community centers, senior centers, corporate
offices, libraries and hospitals. Our programs are interactive and uniquely tailored to each session
IndiaFest — Experience India in a Day, a celebration of India's rich culture, heritage, traditions and diversity, is back in-person for 2022, bigger and better than ever, on Saturday, August 13, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Minnesota State Capitol grounds, 75 Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. St. Paul, MN.
The O'Shaughnessy presents the premiere of Katha Dance Theatre's Ritusamhara - The Seasons, a dance celebrating the six seasons of India, and Baromase Tero Parbon, which also honors the seasons by depicting some of the 13 festivals within the year. The dynamic dance concert, on stage at 7:30pm on Friday-Saturday, March 2-3, incorporates authentic Kathak dance, as well as Asian Indian poetry, music and costumes of the highest artistic quality. In addition, a free preview matinee for community members and students will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, March 1.
