Marguerite Angelica Monique will direct a community gathering called we free. A social experiment, a conversation, a non-performance, an endeavor to talk about and embody what we are doing, right now, to be free. Together we will activate the land and our own bodies with music, songs, poems and dance in a celebration of Spring and each other. Come dressed and prepared to move freely.Marguerite Angelica Monique is a Jamaican born, Jersey-raised, NYC-made performance artist/educator currently based in Philadelphia, USA. They focus on one's own body, one's own way of moving, adapting, healing, releasing, protecting, changing, and connecting to the unseen. As a choreographer she specializes in emergent, improvisational and social dance movement styles and technologies, rooted in the story of the African Diaspora. She is a master of body ceremonies and a curator of vibes. Event is Free. Bring a chair, a picnic blanket, your kids, your neighbor, your beloveds, something to share, something to read - whatever helps you feel free. While this is an outdoor event, masks are still highly recommended.
