Bishop Arts Theatre commissioned ten Black playwrights to pen a 0ne-act play inspired by and in conversation with Dr. Ibram X. Kendis book HOW TO BE AN ANTIRACIST. At a time where Black authors including Ta-Nahasi Coates, Nikole Hannah-Jones, and other prominent Black writers are engaged in conversations about Americas racial reckoning, THE HOW TO BE PROJECT seeks to produce works that continue the dialogue in the enduring struggle for racial justice. In partnership with PEN America.Commission award recipients include Jonathan Norton, Eugene Lee, Kristen Adele Calhoun, Erin Malone, Alle Mims, Paula Sanders, Oba William King, Zetra Goodlow, Bwalya Chisanga & Michael Harrison. The commission awards are made possible by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and Dallas Truth Racial Healing & Transformation.
