It takes some guts to put on "Guys & Dolls" as so much of it is well known. The classic songs which transitioned past theatre into pop and dances that were so athletic that everyone liked them.
Thankfully, the direction of the show is in the capable hands of Michelle Carter Levall who has literally grown up in this theatre.
To make it all come together, she went shopping for the best talent for the show. I did not know Aaron Gallagher but what a strong theatre voice and presence. His Sky was the limit.
His Sarah was Jennifer McMillin who brought the appropriate gravity to her breakout role as the Salvation Army leader who tumbles in love.
Leading the great comedy written in this show was Loree Beth Westbrooks who has been with the RCT for 31 years and she states that this was her third time to portray Adelaide. Terrific and the third time is the charm.
Her foil is Jack Agnew as Nathan Detroit, a man truly caught in the middle and who makes the most of it. Great fun and great singing.
Hats off to Brandon Edwards who lives up to his name "Nicely Nicely" and "Sit down you're rocking the boat". And to the skiniest
officer on the NY Police Force, Nick Tischer.
Many others including Jordan Tomenga and the crew.
Catch it this weekend and savor the performance and the songs and story.
