Synopsis: The musical Cabaret is set in Berlin, Germany in the late 1920s during the decline of the Weimar Republic, and as the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis) began to come to power. This is the backdrop for references to sexuality, drug use, violence, and other thematic elements, including abortion and historically contextualized images of hate. Our Production: We are proud to be sharing this important story with our community. Cabaret, as people know it, on the surface level is a means of entertainment. The truth of the matter is that it is a sanctuary; a place that one can use to escape their worries and troubles and leave them at the door. Our production will not only showcase the skills and talents of our performers and production team, but also expose the true story that is being told in the Cabaret through our Brechtian approach. We have stripped curtains and exposed lighting fixtures. prop tables and all backstage area in order for the audience to get a sense that this story is not one of razzle dazzle, but rather simple truth. We hope that audiences will enjoy their time at the Cabaret but leave enlighten with the understanding that "life is a Cabaret!"
