Cara Ma Theatres Mellon Playwright in Residence Virginia Grise presents Talleres for Dreaming: Episode 2 livestreaming on the global, commons-based, peer produced HowlRound TV network on Tuesday 15 March 2022 at 4 p.m. PST (San Francisco, UTC -8) / 6 p.m. CST (Chicago, UTC -6) / 7 p.m. EST (New York, UTC -5).An invitation to dance, cuz we free: An Artist Talk by Marguerite Angelica MoniqueEpisode 2 of Da Grove: Un Taller for DreamingI dream of the worlds inside your eyes; can you dream of the ones in mine? -Marguerite Angelica MoniqueMarguerite Angelica Monique is a Jamaican born, Jersey-raised, NYC-made performance artist/educator currently based in Philadelphia, USA. They focus on one's own body, one's own way of moving, adapting, healing, releasing, protecting, changing, and connecting to the unseen. She is a master of body ceremonies and a curator of vibes. As a choreographer she specializes in emergent, improvisational and social dance movement styles and technologies, rooted in the story of the African Diaspora, the ancestral and subversive role of dance and the dancer throughout the African Diaspora, and looks to conjure these technologies through all of their (present) work. In this talk, Marguerite will discuss re-choreographing, or in a lot of cases, un-choreographing our relationships to the state. How can we move as if the state were an afterthought? What does that mean for how we dance with each other, ourselves, and our environment?
