Terry Martin, producing artistic director of WaterTower Theatre, today announced an extension of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, which is now playing. The musical revue will be extended for one week through Sun., Aug. 19 with the addition of five performances: Wed., Aug. 15 at 7:30PM, Thurs., Aug. 16 at 7:30PM, Fri., Aug. 17 at 8PM, Sat., Aug. 18 at 8PM and Sun., Aug. 19 at 2PM.

The production opened on July 23 and was originally scheduled to close on Aug. 12. High ticket demand prompted the extension of this very popular production.

The ensemble cast includes Steve Barcus, Feleceia Benton, Chimberly Carter Byrom, Walter Cunningham, Maurice Johnson, Laura Lites, Calvin Roberts, Courtney Sikora andAkron Watson.

Terry Martin leads the creative team as director with John de los Santos as choreographer/assistant director, Scott Eckert as music director, Clare Floyd DeVries as set designer, David Natinsky as lighting designer, Michael Robinson as costume designer, Georgana Jinks as props designer and Scott Guenther as sound designer.

SMOKE JOE'S CAFE is a musical revue celebrating the “Stand by Me” songwriting duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The composers' chart-toppers include “Poison Ivy,” “Love Potion #9,” “Yakety Yak,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Spanish Harlem” and “Hound Dog.” The concert musical is a compendium of Leiber/Stoller tunes and covers much of the era from the backside of GREASE to the Summer of Love. It celebrates a classic strain of rock 'n' roll.

SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE opened on Broadway in 1995. That same year, the show was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and was honored with nominations for seven Tony Awards in 1995. The show ran on Broadway for five years, making it the longest-running musical revue in the history of Broadway.

The show is generously sponsored by Ackley Financial/Armor Wealth Management, YP – Formerly the Real Yellow Pages, Centennial Fine Wines & Spirits and Rainmaker Advertising.
