WaterTower Theatre Managing Director Gregory Patterson and Associate Artistic Director Kelsey Leigh Ervi today announced details for the Second Annual 24-HR Play Festival. Performances will take place on WaterTower Theatre's Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Conference and Theatre Centre on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 8pm.

WaterTower Theatre will begin taking submissions from local playwrights between December 6, 2016 and January 13, 2017. Submissions can either be in the form of one ten minute play, or a ten page selection from a full-length play. Four playwrights will be chosen from the submissions, and will be notified of their selection by January 20, 2017. Submissions should be emailed to Kelsey Leigh Ervi, Associate Artistic Director, at kervi@watertowertheatre.org by Friday, January 13, 2017 with the subject line "NAME - 24-HR Play Fest - Playwright Submission."

Open auditions for local actors interested in participating in the 24-Hour Play Festival will be held on Sunday, December 18 from 4pm-10pm. Actors are asked to bring a headshot and resume, and come prepared with a one-minute contemporary monologue. Actors of all ages, genders, and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Please note that this is a non-paying performance opportunity. Meals will be provided for all participants throughout the process. Interested actors can sign up for an audition slot at instant-scheduling.com/sch.php?kn=204069&typId=56947&step=2.

All participants selected for the 24-HR Play Festival must be available from February 24 at 7pm to February 25 at 9pm.

Playwrights, directors and actors will come together to create 4 brand new plays in just 24 hours. Four playwrights will be chosen via submission, after which they will be assigned a director and a group of actors who will then inspire them to write a 15-minute play. The 24-Hour Play Festival will culminate in a one-time only performance at 8pm on Saturday, February 25 in the Canterbury Family Main Stage where each of the new plays will be performed for the public! The 24-HR Play Festival serves to provide an opportunity for local artists to work collaboratively to create new works.

Individual tickets to the performance are $10 each and will go on sale at Noon on December 6, 2016. A post-show reception will be hosted in the lobby following the performance.
