WaterTower Theatre offers condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Holly Canterbury, a longtime patron of the theatre company, who died today at age 76 following a long and courageous fight with cancer.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin said “Holly Canterbury was a proud steward of WaterTower Theatre and her significant influence is woven into the fabric of our history. No person loved WaterTower Theatre more than Holly Canterbury and the WaterTower Theatre Board, staff and local acting community loved her for her devotion to our theatre company and the arts in North Texas. Holly will be remembered for her warmth, honesty, strength of character, integrity and strong belief in the importance of the arts. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time."

Holly Canterbury lived in Addison for more than 25 years. She was the owner of Holly Enterprises/Del Mar Scientific. A member of Christ Anglican Church in Plano, Holly was on the Vestry of St. Mathias Anglican Church. One of the longest serving members of the Addison Business Association, she started the original Carnival at Oktoberfest in Addison and served as ABA’s President and Treasurer for many years. Holly had been a patron and subscriber of WaterTower Theatre for many years and served on the Company’s Board of Directors, the Spotlight Gala Committee and the Women of WaterTower Theatre Steering Committee. Mrs. Canterbury recently made a leadership gift to establish WaterTower Theatre’s first Endowment Fund, the Fund for Artistic Excellence.

Recently, the Honorable Mayor of Addison, Todd Meier, proclaimed August 27, 2012, as Holly Canterbury Day in recognition of her significant achievements to advance the Town of Addison.

Holly is predeceased by her husband Bob and survived by her sons Michael and JC and grandchildren Conner and Cayla. The family has not released details regarding services.
