WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin today announced a new education program called EXPLORE@WTT. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to experience live professional theatre at the affordable price of $5 per ticket to one of the preview performances during the 2012-2013 Main Stage season.
Teachers will be invited to submit an application on behalf of their class or school to WaterTower Theatre in order to be eligible for the program. A limited number of tickets will be available under this program.
Students can attend all or some of the following four productions in the 2012-2013 season: THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP (September 28 & 29); PUTTING IT TOGETHER (January 11 & 12); THE GRAPES OF WRATH (April 5 & 6) and BLACK TIE (May 31 & June 1). The performances begin at 8 pm.
In addition to attending the performance, students will be invited to participate in a post-show discussion with the actors. For teachers, the program will be a powerful tool for bringing literature to life, aided by WaterTower Theatre’s comprehensive study guides and a pre-performance workshop to be held a few days before the actual performance. The workshop for teachers is designed to help them prepare their students for the show.
EXPLORE@WTT is a program of the education department of WaterTower Theatre. Landrie Bock, Director of Education and Business, will oversee the program along with WaterTower Theatre Dramaturg Vicki Cheatwood. “EXPLORE@WTT is new program to further our mission to bring the arts and live theatre to as many people in our community as possible,” said Terry Martin. “The more our arts community does to open our theatre doors to our youth the better our communities will be now and in the future.”
Schools and teachers interested in participating in EXPLORE@WTT should contact Landrie Bock at 972-450-6230 or lbock@watertowertheatre.org.
