Uptown Players continues its 2015 season with the 2011 Tony nominated musical Catch Me If You Can. Based on the hit film and the incredible true story that inspired it, (Book by Terrence McNally and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), Catch Me If You Can, is the high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught, at the Kalita Humphreys Theater from tonight, July 24 to August 9, 2015.
Catch Me If You Can captures the astonishing true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. (played by Anthony Fortino), a world-class con artist who passed himself off as a doctor, a lawyer, and a jet pilot-all before the age of 21. With straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty (played by Christopher Curtis) on Frank's trail, we're off on a jet-setting, cat-and-mouse chase, as a jazzy, swinging-sixties score keeps this adventure in constant motion. In the end, Agent Hanratty learns he and Frank aren't so very different after all, and Frank finds out what happens when love catches up to a man on the run.
The show is under the direction of Cheryl Denson, with choreography by Ann Nieman and music direction by Kevin Gunter. The cast features Anthony Fortino, Maranda Harrison, Christopher Curtis, David Lugo, Sarah Powell, James Williams, Lois Leftwich, Greg Hullett, Aaron White, Jonathan Garcia, plus Michael Albee, Kylie Arnold, Caroline Carden, Kyle Fleig, Kyle Igneczi, Caroline Iliff, Samantha McHenry, Michael Scott McNay, Kyle Montgomery, Taylor Quick, Jackie Raye, Shelby Ringdahl, Allysa Robbins, Abbie Ruff, Michael Russell, Katie Sperry and Rhett Warner.
The production runs July 24 through August 9, 2015, with shows at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays (no performances July 26). Performances take place at the Kalita Humphreys Theatre, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd (at Blackburn), Dallas, TX 75219.
