With pieces inspired by the joy of expression and the skill of interpretation as they relate to the world of dance, The University of Texas Department of Theatre & Dance's award-winning student dance company presents, Dance Repertory Theatre Fall Showing, Preview of Canción del Cuerpo (Song of the Body), December 4 & 5, 2009, at the B. Iden Payne Theatre.
This program features exciting new pieces by UT students, faculty and guest choreographers. It also features a sneak peek at pieces that will be featured in the much-anticipated new collaborative work, Canción del Cuerpo (Song of the Body), being performed March 5-7, 2010 at Texas Performing Arts' B. Iden Payne Theatre.
Canción del Cuerpo (Song of the Body) is a vital new dance experience created by Artistic Directors and The University of Texas Faculty Members Lyn C. Wiltshire and Yacov Sharir, along with guest choreographer Álvaro Restrepo. Restrepo is the co-director of El Colegio Del Cuerpo de Cartagena de Indias - Colombia´s first Contemporary Dance choreographic formation center, a dance school for disadvantaged children, and a professional dance company. This special program will present new works by the featured choreographers, performed by dance majors in UT's Dance Repertory Theatre together with company members of El Colegio del Cuerpo.Canción del Cuerpo (Song of the Body) pieces to be previewed at the Dance Repertory Fall Showing include:
