As part of a continued effort of inclusion, and to improve the theatre experience for DFW patrons of all needs, Theatre Three is excited to announce an advanced assisted listening system, which replaces the group's decade-old system. This state-of-the-art equipment has been paid for by an anonymous donor and debuted during Theatre Three's December production of Solstice. The system will now be available for all Theatre Three mainstage productions.
Working with leaders of Dallas' Deaf Action Center, Theatre Three selected the Williams Sound FM 457 Personal PA FM Assistive Listening System, which drastically improves sound clarity with a range of up to 1000 feet and perfectly suits the unique theatre-in-the-round setup.
Hard of hearing patrons will now have three listening options with the new system: single ear assistance, double-ear headphones, or a neck loop listening device designed for guests with cochlear implants. Nine units are available for use and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis through the box office. Patrons and artists who have participated in system testing have expressed that sound quality throughout the in-the-round style venue has never been more clear using this new software.
"It's important that cultural institutions provide as much access to their services as possible," Theatre Three Managing Director Merri Brewer stated, "Assisted Listening technology has come a long way, and Theatre Three is thrilled to replace our aged system with these state-of-the-art devices. I think it's particularly important in-the-round, as you can't always SEE who is speaking or singing."
Patrons seeking additional information about the Williams Sound Assistive Listening System are welcome to contact Theatre Three by calling (214) 871-3300 or emailing Merri.Brewer@Theatre3Dallas.com.
