Theatre Arlington closes out the 2018-2019 Season with the first work in Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical trilogy, Brighton Beach Memoirs. This coming-of-age story, opening August 9th, is an affectionate and humorous portrait of a Jewish-American family in 1937 Brooklyn as seen through the eyes of 15-year old Eugene Morris Jerome. Sharing his home with six other family members doesn't give him much privacy to dream about girls, particularly his beautiful cousin Nora, or playing baseball for the Yankees.

However, coping with his ordinary life while living with his over-worked father, under-appreciated mother and worldly older brother, plus a few other interesting family members, does give Eugene plenty of material for his budding writing career. Winner of the New York Drama Critic's Circle Award for Best Play of 1983 and two Tony Awards, The New York Daily News has hailed it as: "Simon's funniest, richest and, consequently, the most affecting of his plays."

Theatre Arlington's production of Brighton Beach Memoirs is directed by Megan Haratine, making her Theatre Arlington directing debut. Eric Berg stars as Eugene and Seth Nelson stars as his brother, Stanley. The rest of the family includes Jennifer Engler as Kate, Seth Johnston as Jack, Melanie Mason as Blanche, Olivia Cinquepalmi as Nora and Brooklyn Ramey-Halkyard as Laurie. Michael McCrary is Eugene's understudy.

Stage Manager, Heather Moore, heads up the production team which includes Kevin Brown (Set Designer), Bryan Stevenson (Lighting Designer), Bill Eickenloff (Sound Designer), Angie Glover (Scenic Artist), Robin Dotson (Properties Designer), Sharon Kaye Miller (Costume Designer) and Kiera Gavitt (Assistant Stage Manager).

Brighton Beach Memoirs is sponsored by the Ben E. Keith Foundation - Dick and Betty Mitchell and will open on Friday, August 9th at 8pm. This evening will also celebrate Theatre Arlington's new building mural provided by the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation and created by local artist, Luis Mendoza. Picture opportunities will be from 7pm - 7:45pm, before the show. A post-show reception with the cast and crew sponsored by Unique Catering will immediately follow the show and will include dessert provided by Cooper Street Bakery, the official bakery of Theatre Arlington.
