Main Street is sizzling with the opening production of Theatre Arlington's 46th season, 9 to 5 The Musical. This witty and delightful musical is based on the 1980 hit movie, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, one of the original screenwriters. The unlikeliest of friends, Violet, Judy and Doralee, combine forces to take control of their company and their egotistical boss, intent on keeping them and every other woman "in their place." As their plan spins wildly out of control, these women unite to seek their sweet revenge, but in so doing - shatter the stereotypes and find true friendship, independence and prove there is nothing they can't do. What a way to make a living!
Interim Executive Producer, Steven D. Morris, is thrilled to "be the boss" of such an incredible cast. The powerful female lead trio is making their Theatre Arlington debut: Daron Cockerell as Judy, Mary Gilbreath Grim as Violet and Kaitie Badalamenti as Doralee. James Williams as the despicable Franklin Hart, Jr. is also a newcomer to the Theatre Arlington stage and Arlington native, Jan Roeton plays Roz Keith, the queen of all office snitches. Rounding out this talented cast are Nik Blocker (Detective), Tevin Cates (Bob),Daniel Hernandez (Dwayne), Rodney Honeycutt (Dick), Emily-Kate Ivey (Ensemble), Jake Kelly Harris (Joe), Donovan Lawson (Kathy), Dennis Maher (Tinsworthy), George Sepulveda (Doctor), Melanie Mason (Margaret), Ashton Morales (Josh), Alexandra Neary (Candy Striper), Ashlyn Nichols (Ensemble) and Cathy Pritchett (Missy).
LIVE music is back at Theatre Arlington this season! The 9 to 5 live band will be led by Music Director, Michael Plantz on piano, and includes Phillip Friend on bass, Sam Walker on guitar and Michael Dooley on drums. Production team members also include Dawn Prejean (Choreographer), Rebecca Rickey (Stage Manager), Alexandra Koeneke Neary (Dance Captain), Kevin Brown (Scenic Design), Bill Eickenloff (Sound Designer), Bryan Stevenson (Lighting Designer), Robin Dotson (Properties Designer), Angie Glover (Scenic Artist) and Janice Pennington (Costume Designer).
