The Grand 1894 Opera House presents An Evening with Mark Russell, Politically Incorrect, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 8 pm. Tickets may be purchased at The Grand's Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com.

Just in time for the Presidential election, and sure to be a Grand sell-out! Long before Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, there was Mark Russell, daring to joke and sing about our often absurd political process. Playing off the day's headlines, Mr. Russell performs "up-to-the-minute" stand-up comedy while accompanying himself on the piano. He draws merriment from the pomposity of public life on all sides of the American political spectrum. Mark's impeccable timing and on-target insights are sure to bring much-need laughter to this year's political season!

Mark Russell's first heroes were entertainers like radio comedians Fred Allen and Jack Benny. These comedy legends were an inspiration to Russell as he developed his own satirical style - filled with comic anarchy that was often focused on making fun of authority figures. Russell spent 30 years on public television as host of the Mark Russell Comedy Specials, where it was consistently among the top-rated shows on that network. In 2012, his sponsoring station, WNED in Buffalo put together a retrospective of his 30 years, Mark Russell's America, which aired across the PBS network. This performance is sponsored in part by Shrub and Peaches Kempner, Kempner Capital Management, The Galveston County Daily News and AM 740 KTRH News Radio.
