Texas Ballet Theater Announces 2019/2020 Season  Image

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) has released its 2019-2020 season, which includes a world premiere and U.S. premiere piece. As a resident company of both Winspear Opera House on the AT&T Performing Arts campus and Bass Performance Hall, the Company has the opportunity to perform in both Dallas and Fort Worth.

"Celebrating my 17th season with Texas Ballet Theater, this is sure to be an exceptional season with a delightful mix of contemporary and never-before-seen pieces, with well-loved classics" said Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., Artistic Director for Texas Ballet Theater. "We enjoy bringing world-class art in an exciting and moving way to our audience."

The season opens at the Winspear Opera House on the AT&T Performing Arts campus with The Sleeping Beauty Sept. 6-8, accompanied by the Dallas Opera Orchestra. Then Oct.18-20, The Sleeping Beauty comes to Bass Performance Hall, accompanied by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. The piece is choreographed by Stevenson.

The holiday season brings Ben Stevenson's The Nutcracker at Winspear Opera House Nov. 29- Dec. 1 and Dec. 6-Dec. 8 before transitioning to Bass Performance Hall Dec. 13-15; Dec. 19-22; Dec. 23-29. The Nutty Nutcracker, Stevenson's unconventional take on the holiday classic, will be at Bass Performance Hall Dec. 20.

The first mixed repertoire, to be performed Feb. 14-16, 2020, at Bass Performance Hall features the world premiere of choreographer Ma Cong's Firebird alongside Crash, brilliantly choreographed by Jonathan Watkins.

Stevenson's Image and Bartok together with choreographer Garrett Smith's Imbue are on the bill for the second mixed repertoire. The pieces will be performed at Bass Performance Hall, March 27-29, 2020.

TBT will conclude the season with A Midsummer Night's Dream at Bass Performance Hall May 8-10, 2020, accompanied by Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and at Winspear Opera House May 15-17, 2020, with accompaniment by the Dallas Opera Orchestra. This piece is a U.S. premiere by renowned choreographer Liam Scarlett.
