THE WIZARD OF OZ is touching down in Fort Worth as Performing Arts Fort Worth brings this National Treasure to Bass Performance Hall Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2011.

Single tickets for THE WIZARD OF OZ go on sale THIS Saturday, August 27, at 10:00 a.m. and start at only $30.

This national touring Broadway production, based on the Royal Shakespeare Company's celebration of the 1939 MGM movie, is presented with breathtaking special effects that will sweep audiences away, from the moment the tornado twists its way into Kansas.

Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow are transported "Over the Rainbow" to adventures in Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest and the Emerald City.

Local children from the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts will be performing the roles of the munchkins. Singing timeless classics such as "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead," the children help bring this beloved classic to the stage of their hometown as part of their continuing performing arts education.

In the role of Scarecrow will be locally-bred actor Patrick Pevehouse. A native of Carrolton, Pevehouse graduated from Newmansmith High in Carrollton and from Oklahoma City University's Bass School of Music. He trained under well-known North Texas actress Stephanie Riggs at Flower Mound Performing Arts Theater.

Other principal cast members include Kerrie McNeill, in the role of Dorothy; Brent Wakelin as Cowardly Lion; Brian Maxsween as Tin Man; and Bob Pritchard as the Wizard.

Featuring the classic songs composed by Harold Arlen, such as "Over the Rainbow" and "If I Only Had a Brain," THE WIZARD OF OZ will have the entire family captivated as they travel down the yellow brick road for an unforgettable evening at the theater.
