Baby Jane Dexter's eagerly awaited new show, The Real World debuts at Metropolitan Room for ten performances beginning Friday, November 19 and running on consecutive Fridays and Saturdays through December 18. All shows are at 7:30. Sharing the stage will be her acclaimed musical partner Ross Patterson.

The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22 Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues). There will be a $25 music charge and a two beverage minimum. Reservations: (212) 206 0440.

The Real World is a powerful, inspiring and funny potpourri of unique songs and arrangements given Ms. Dexter's one of a kind haunting spin. The eclectic song list includes gems by the likes of Billie Holiday, Janis Ian, Roy Orbison, John Sebastian, Alec Wilder and many more.

Writing in The New York Times, Stephen Holden said of Ms. Dexter, "The phrase 'keeping it real,' and all that it suggests certainly applies to Baby Jane Dexter, a longtime cabaret performer whose booming pop contralto is one of the more formidable voices on the New York nightclub stage."
Additionally, Jazz Times Magazine said, "Dexter's brand of entertainment is arguably the most compellingly, refreshingly honest there is."

And, this new show will contain some potent musical moments along with her trademark blend of profound and artistically whimsical bon mots. As always, Baby Jane challenges as much as she inspires. That is the hallmark that has sustained her remarkable career.

Ms. Dexter said, "With this new show, I was reminded of a favorite saying from Winston Churchill, 'Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.'"
Elissa Patterson serves as artistic consultant.

This is a show not to be missed.
