Rover Dramawerks is pleased to present The Best of One Day Only, Vol. 2, featuring fourteen of the best 10-minute plays from the past twelve One Day Only 24-hour play festivals. Performances are April 2-4 at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue in Plano, with seven plays presented on Thursday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and seven plays presented on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Ticket prices are $12 for a single block of plays and $20 for both blocks of plays, with a $2 discount available for students, seniors, and DFW Playwrights' Alliance and STAGE members. Tickets may be purchased online at Rover Dramawerks' website at www.roverdramawerks.com.

Eighty-three original short plays from concept to curtain in just one day have been presented in Rover's past signature short play festivals. Many have seen additional performances with such organizations as Flower Mound Performing Arts Theatre, Lakehill Preparatory School, Punch Drunk Comedy, and the Out of the Loop Festival in Addison. "Two Bubbles" by Greg Romero from One (More) Day Only, was named "Best of the Fest" at the 2004 FronteraFest in Austin and was a finalist for the 2004 Heideman Award (the annual award that Actors Theatre of Louisville gives to the best 10-minute play in America) and has recently been published with Playscripts, Inc. The fourteen plays presented for The Best of One Day Only, Vol. 2 were selected blind by a panel of nine readers who have never seen or worked on a past One Day Only and who live as far away as New York, Tennessee, and Colorado. Plays that have received other productions or that were presented in The Best of One Day Only, Vol. 1 in June 2005 were not eligible.

The plays to be presented Thursday and Saturday nights are "Four Chairs" by Don McLaughlin, directed by Victoria Irvine; "No Secrets" by Susan McMath Platt, directed by Reg Platt; "The Perfect House" by Carol M. Rice, directed by Heather Hill; "Writer's Block" by Matthew J. Edwards, directed by Rick Dalton; "Conspiracy" by Jason Rice, directed by Dawn M. Wittke; "Pa's Lucky Hat" by Cambell Navarro, directed by Carol M. Rice; and "Space Cowboy, Aunt Velma, and the Planet Macaroon" by Christopher Stephen Soden, directed by Lisa Devine.

The plays to be presented on Friday night and Saturday matinee are "Structure" by Patrick S. O'Neil, directed by Heather Hill; "Misinterpretationalizations" by Marc Benjamin Rouse, directed by Cherie Grindstaff; "Stranger Than Fiction" by J. Christopher Campbell, directed by Rick Dalton; "Mr. Little Miss Sunshine" by Tommy Looney, directed by Victoria Irvine; "Power Makes the World Go Around" by Carol M. Rice, directed by Cherie Grindstaff; "Make Every Day Marvelous" by J. Rod Pannek, directed by Lisa Devine, and "No Pain, No Drain" by Matthew J. Edwards, directed by James Prince.

Actors will perform in one to four plays throughout the festival and include Lucy Bandoh, Todd Brewster, David Campbell, Deborah Cheng, Kelly Moore Clarkson, Chelsie Dawn, Annalisa Erder, Cherie Grindstaff, Matt Gunther, Jerilyn Harris, Heather Hill, Erica Hollings, Len Jenkins, Morgan Justiss, Joslyn Justus, Terrie Justus, LonHendre Keggins, TEd Lewis, Rich Machado, Sasha Truman-McGonnell, Michael McNiel, Christopher Nash, Nic Pfost, Reg Platt, James Prince, Lauren Rutherford, Oren Sachs, Angel Smith, Jan Toms, Sherri Small Truitt, Robin Washburn, Eric Window, Tim Woodard, and Aubrie Yaws. Richard Russell serves as stage manager for the event.

Rover Dramawerks is a resident theatre at the Cox Building Playhouse in Plano, producing a full season of six mainstage shows in addition to two One Day Onlys per season. Rover Dramawerks also offers year-round classes for adults and children, including theatre camps in three locations all summer long.
