It's critical, darling, to be critical, darling!
Millennial messiah, Brigham Mosley, is regressing. The world is a Sisyphus-ian nightmare and this drag queen just wants to braid your hair. Can refuge from the present only be found in the past? In the tradition of Taylor Mac, Dallas performance artist Brigham Mosley brings drag and drama to Stage West as a special one-night event on Wednesday, June 13 in conjunction with the theatre's production of Hir.
Critical, Darling!, Mosley's original premiere, dismantles the patriarchy and queers up your childhood - a jukebox-musical of the performance-art-sort. It's a blistering critique of all that's critical; a dismantling of identity, politics, and identity politics. Plus original songs that, let's be real here, will probably win all the Grammys.
Brigham is a writer/performer/sometime drag queen. His work has been described as "if the Rude Mechs had a love child with Taylor Mac (or Daniel Alexander Jones), and then named Young Jean Lee the godmother." Which he is V into. Locally, he's researching and developing a piece on journalism for the Dallas Morning News (commissioned by Ignite Arts Dallas), as well as continuing his drag-musical series, Movies That Should Be Musicals.
Critical, Darling! will be presented Wednesday, June 13 at 7:30. Tickets are $20, or just $10 for those who have purchased a ticket to Hir. Bar service will be available 60 minutes prior to the performance. Reservations and information are available through the Box Office (817-784-9378), or on the website, www.stagewest.org.
