Casa Mañana is proud to present Sweeney Todd, August 3-5, as the 2018 Apprentice Program. Tickets are on sale now.

First performed in 1979, audiences around the world are familiar with this dark and thrilling tale. Sweeney Todd, a cast-aside barber, returns to London to seek revenge on a judge who set up his wife. On this journey, he meets Mrs. Lovett, with whom he devises a dark recipe for her famous meat pies. Stephen Sondheim's and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd is a tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat that will simultaneously shock, awe and delight.

Noah Putterman Casa's director of theatre for youth says, "As a creative team we're looking to tell the story with clarity and conviction, and honor the masterpiece and talent of the actors."

Sweeney Todd features Hayden Hart as "Sweeney" and Shelby Parker as "Mrs. Lovett." Bryson Jackson stars as "Anthony Hope," Sophia Kaiafas as "Johanna," Alejandro Saucedo as "Tobias" and Joe Caskey as "Judge Turpin." Max Kuenzer stars as "Jonas Fogg," John Fredrickson as "Pirelli," Brayden Welch as "Beadle Bamford" and Shelby Priddy as "Beggar Woman." Caleb Barnett, Katie Blanton, Miranda Campin, Daniel DiPinto, Sydney Dotson, Sheresia Goodspeed, Vincent Joseph Harrill II, Courtney Lynn, Lauren Magee, Darin Martin, Grace Moore, Nasir Panjwani, Alley Ramsey, Tristan Thomas, James Vinson, Luke Weber, Camryn Wright and Autumn Young complete this excellent cast.

Sweeney Todd is directed by Noah Putterman with James McQuillen serving as music director and Merrill West as choreographer. The creative design team consists of Mike Sabourin as scenic designer, Adam Honoré as lighting designer, Tammy Spencer as costume designer, Jonathan Parke as sound designer and Cat Petty-Rogers as hair and makeup designer.

Putterman, says this of his cast, "This is my fifth year with the Apprentice Program and each year the cast is more talented. This cast is just beyond anything I've seen for a company of young actors. This won't feel like a youth production - it will feel like a professional show."

Performance dates and times are as follows: Friday, August 3 at 8 p.m., Saturday, August 4 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 5 at 2 p.m.
